Boy Genius Aims To Prove Stephen Hawking Wrong About God

Scientists largely agree that the universe began with the Big Bang billions of years ago. However, this theory is a direct contradiction to what Christians believe according to what is written in the Bible. Although scientists believe they have enough evidence to “prove” that God does not exist, their debate continues to rage as people from across the spectrum of scientific thought weigh in and deliver their own perspective on the age-old question – is there a God?

Stephen Hawking, one of the most famous astrophysicists in the world, was famous for not believing in God. According to the scientist, God is not real.

Hawking, who has since passed away, once said: “Before we understood science, it was natural to believe that God created the universe, but now, science offers a more convincing explanation. What I meant by ‘we would know the mind of God’ is we would know everything that God would know if there was a God, but there isn’t. I’m an atheist.”

Nevertheless, many people still believe in the existence of God. There’s a brave 11-year-old boy who has come forward to argue against Hawking and defend his belief in the existence of a higher power.

According to Joanne Ruthsatz, an Ohio State University psychologist, William Maillis, 11, is a genius. He’s most certainly not a typical boy. He graduated from high school when he was just nine years old, and now he is making headway as an academic.

Although Maillis was a quick study – he devoured an entire geometry book when he was five and used the information to solve circumference problems – he is also a devout believer in the presence of a higher power. As the son of a preacher, Maillis finds himself in an interesting position caught in the middle of academia and religion.

Maillis argued: “We know the universe has an age, right? 13.8 billion years. So, 13.8 billion years ago, the entire universe was reduced to a singularity, a particle smaller than a quark.”

The boy genius added, “However, if gravity is always working, i.e., if you jumped off this building, you’re not going to fall 15 seconds later, you’re going to fall immediately, so, if gravity was always working, and the singularity was always there […] then the universe should have no age, it should be infinitely old. But it’s not. It’s 13.8 billion years old.”

Then he hits home with the end of his theory.

“And something can’t come from nothing because it would have to exist in order to cause itself to exist, which is illogical. So, therefore, something other must have created the singularity, and that something other me observe as God.”

In other words, Maillis believes that there is a strong creative force behind the creation of the known universe. Maillis believes that someone is responsible for its creation and that someone is none other than God.

Although Maillis’s ideas are popular among Christians, he hopes to defend them academically in the future. He will do that by pursuing a career as an astrophysicist, just like Hawking did.

“I want to be an astrophysicist so that I can prove to the scientific world that God does exist,” he shared in an interview with HCHCMedia.
