Six-Year-Old Boy Dies One Month After The Lightning Strike That Killed His Dad

In Texas, a six-year-old boy and his father have both died after getting struck by lightning. The child, Grayson Boggs, was holding hands with his daddy when his father was struck by lightning and killed. Grayson initially survived the lightning strike but was put into a coma on life support and has since passed away in a tragic turn of events that has shocked people across Texas and the country as a whole.

The lightning strike occurred on May 15, 2023. Grayson was being picked up from the school bus by his 34-year-old father, Matthew, when the lightning struck him and killed him instantly. Because Grayson was holding his father’s hand, the lightning passed into his body and threw the little boy into a coma..

Although paramedics rushed Grayson to the hospital, he was in critical condition and suffered from severe brain damage for over a month before he passed away on June 16, 2023.

“Words can’t describe this,” Grayson’s loving aunt wrote on social media. “You fought so hard through it all; now you’ll be able to rest, my handsome, funny little baby nephew.”

After Matthew picked up his sons from the school bus stop, he walked them back to the house via the driveway. That’s when lightning came out of the sky and struck Matthew, sending a current of electricity through his hand, which was being used to hold onto Grayson.

In a heart-wrenching revelation, Matthew’s mother, Angela Boggs, confirmed that Matthew and Grayson had just confessed their love for one another moments before the lightning strike came out of the clouds.

“(Matthew had just got done telling Grayson that he loved him, he said ‘I love you, buddy,’ that’s when the lightning came down,” Angela Boggs told KWTX. “I always took care of him because he is the one God gave to me. Now my responsibility is to take care of my grandbabies.”
After the act of God, Grayson was placed on life support as he struggled to hang onto life while in a comatose state. Later, doctors determined that Grayson had suffered severe brain damage after his brain was deprived of oxygen for too long.

In recent weeks, Grayson’s family said that it looked like he was making a recovery. He began to be able to breathe on his own and was taken off the donor list. Nevertheless, he was not able to pull through and died on June 16, 2023.

Doctors told Grayson’s family that he was not going to make a recovery on Tuesday. By Friday, the family had agreed to let the boy rest in peace and took him off the ventilator, which was the only thing keeping his body oxygenated.

Before the boy’s death, his family created a GoFundMe page to raise money for his funeral.

“It’s been one month since tragedy struck this family,” the post said. “The strength that this family has shown is inspiring. Grayson is still hanging on but is on comfort care. Please just pray that we keep him comfortable at this time and pray for healing for the family. We may not know what God’s plan is, but we know he has his arms wrapped around Grayson at this time.”
