Elementary School Teacher Is Fired For Allowing Her Students Sit Out The Pledge Of Allegiance

A Texas teacher was fired from her post at an elementary school after she allowed some students to sit out the Pledge of Allegiance if they wanted to. Now, the former third-grade teacher has come forward to speak out about her termination from her job and fight back against the wrongful firing that she received since children are supposed to have a choice about whether or not they recite the Pledge in the morning before class starts.

In a TikTok video, teacher Sophia DeLoretto-Chudy explained that she was fired from her position teaching young children in a Texas elementary school after she taught the children about Nazi propaganda and drew parallels to that and the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance for the United States of America.

In her viral TikTok video, Sophia shared a list of concerns school administrators had at the Becker Elementary School in Austin, Texas. These people claimed that the third-grade teacher had failed to do her job by not responding to school emails fast enough and not completing data entry assignments.

Teacher DeLoretto-Chudy said that some students decided on their own to sit out the Pledge after her lesson. She saw it as their right to protest as is protected in the first amendment of the United States Constitution.

The teacher said that her student decided to skip out on reciting the Pledge after she taught them how Adolf Hitler used Nazi propaganda to brainwash the German people in the years leading up to and during World War II. She said that students saw a similar thing happening with the Pledge of Allegiance because they believed the government wanted to brainwash public school students by having them recite the Pledge every morning before the start of school.

Sophia worked with eight-year-old students in third grade. She was shocked when the school hit her with a list of problems and reasons for her termination from the job.

“They brought me a list of concerns. I was a little taken aback,” the teacher said. “It caused me to have quite a bit of anxiety.”

The school also listed numerous complaints about the teacher, including criticism of her outfits.

“It just felt like a very demoralizing meeting. I think that’s really the word for it, where I didn’t feel supported, and I felt disrespected,” said DeLoretto-Chudy.

Sophia turned to TikTok to share the list of complaints from the school and to get some support from people online.

“We’ve noticed an intentional attempt in teaching your students about their legal and constitutional rights,” one line in the list stated.

The paper also writes about how some students decided to “stay seated” during the Pledge of Allegiance and questioned whether they were doing it to “please their teacher” or for their own reasons.

Sophia DeLoretto-Chudy previously ran as a Democrat for the California Assembly District 54 in 2019. However, she did not win and decided to pursue a career in teaching in Austin, Texas.
