A devastating crash involving an airplane and a car left three people dead in Miami, Florida – including four-year-old boy Taylor Bishop. The single-engine plane fell out of the sky and crashed into a Miami neighborhood. What’s even more shocking is that the fatal crash was caught on camera through a homeowner’s doorbell video system. The deadly accident occurred on Monday when the plane crashed back to Earth shortly after takeoff.
The plane, a Beechcraft Bonanza, lifted off the tarmac around 3 pm from the North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines, Florida. The airport is located about twenty miles north of downtown Miami, and the plane crashed down into the city. The crash occurred in a residential neighborhood, according to police, which means the damage was even worse than expected.
“Anytime anybody dies, it’s a tragedy that’s horrible,” said Broward County Mayor Steve Geller. “When you have a child that dies, it’s unimaginable, and our prayers are going out to the family of the child.”
A resident captured the crash on their doorbell camera. In the footage, the plane is shown falling from the sky only to crash into a car as it drives along the road. The plane skidded down the road before it burst into flames, spreading fire throughout the residential street.
Two people who were on the plane have been declared dead. Footage of the crash shows just how devastating it was. The plane descended like a rock and smashed right into a car that was driving along the road. The plane skidded off the road and into the grass as flames burst forth like a solar flare.
Local resident Annabelle Fernandez was in the area when the plane fell from the sky and crashed into the neighborhood. She spoke to NBC Miami about the scene and what it was like watching the plane crash into the road and erupt into a deadly blaze.
“We heard a tremendous noise, and we went out, and everybody was on fire, everything was bad,” Fernandez said. “It got to the car. It was a mother with her kid, and we don’t know what happened to them. The fire rescue came, and they got them.”
In the wake of the crash, the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board announced that they would be investigating the crash to see what could have caused it.
Taylor Bishop died while in his parent’s vehicle. His mother was driving along the road when the plane fell from the sky and smashed into the vehicle. His mother, Megan Bishop, could not have reacted to the plane as it seemingly came out of nowhere to total her vehicle.
The Broward County Medical Examiner confirmed that Taylor Bishop died after he was taken to a nearby hospital. Doctors were unable to save him from the injuries sustained during the incident.
“Taylor was just her little compadre,” Anna Fusco, president of the Broward Teachers Union, told the Miami Herald about the boy’s mother, who was also going by the name Ki Ki. “They were two peas in a pod. Every kid in the school is going to be upset that Ki Ki is going to be away for a while. She just lit it up.”
