Imagine the terror of being brutally attacked by three gang members with a box cutter. That is what happened to Sheriff’s Deputy Todd Frazier on May 25, 2015. He was stabbed and beaten to a pulp, but he still had enough resistance in him to press a button that would save his life. The button released his backup K-9 unit waiting in his cruiser. When the canine unleashed its fury, the gang members ran for their lives. This incident is a close call because he couldn’t have been closer to death’s door.
This incident occurred back on May 25, 2015. The officer was Sheriff’s, Deputy Todd Frazier. And at the time, he was not sure if he was going to see the light of day ever again. The gang members were eager to kill him and leave his body for the wolves.
But when Frazier got his hand free, he was able to press the button that released his K-9 unit from his cruiser. The dog ran over and started attacking the three abusers right there near the edge of the woods. They were horrified and no match for the police dog.
The dog gave them a beating, and then they ran away as fast as they could.
Frazier was left with some serious injuries, but he eventually recovered and is now back on the job. He credits his K-09 partner with saving his life that day. It is truly a miraculous story of survival against all odds. Thanks to Frazier’s quick thinking and the bravery of his K-09 partner, a tragedy was averted, and three criminals were brought to justice.
Although his life had been threatened, Deputy Frazier of Hancock County, Mississippi, survived the threat to his life. If it was not for his canine buddy, Lucas, Frazier might not have made it out of the woods alive. But the K-9 unit, which is a black Belgian Malinois breed, came through when his human companion needed him most.
Deputy Frazier had been completing an ordinary call as he went to investigate a lone male sitting in his car at a rest stop. Someone had called in the incident, worried that the man might not be all right.
As Deputy Frazier approached the vehicle to make a welfare check, two other men ambushed him. And in a matter of moments, the officer was outnumbered three to one. And he didn’t have a chance in hell of winning that fight against the gang.
“I had three people on me, and I’m not a very big man, and they basically whipped my butt,” Frazier admitted after his dog saved his life.
The attackers told Frazier they were going to kill him. So in a desperate situation, Frazier fought to free his hand as they dragged him into the woods.
“I had a button on my belt that I wear, and when I hit the button Lucas jumped out of the car and attacked all three of them, and they ran away.”
If it weren’t for the K-9 unit, Deputy Frazier would not have survived the gang attack.
Frazier admitted, “That’s why he’s my hero.”
If you have ever doubted the usefulness of police dogs, this story should change your mind. They are trained to protect and serve, and they will go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure that justice is served. We are so grateful that Deputy Frazier and his K-9 partner Lucas are both safe and sound today.
