Home is where the heart is. That’s a saying that many of us live by. Our home is more than a house or a place to live. It’s where our family and loved ones are that really matter. But a house is still part of our home. Unfortunately, in modern times not everyone has a home to call their own, and these people often struggle to make ends meet while living on the streets of cities around the world.

Choco is one such person who does not have a home of their own. However, he does have dogs to keep him company while he struggles to live day by day while lounging about some steps in a park in Bucaramanga, Colombia.

While he was relaxing with his pair of dogs, Shaggy and Nena, he decided to throw his beloved canines a birthday party. That’s when an innocent passerby noticed that Choco was singing the happy birthday song to his two dogs while they wore birthday hats to celebrate the occasion.

In honor of his dogs’ birthday celebration, Choco gave his pets a lot of affection and even pulled out a surprise cake that he presented to the pooches. He even found some candles to put in the cake and blew them out for good luck after finishing the birthday song for the dogs. Then, he showed just how much he loves his dogs by giving them big fat kisses on their faces – just like millions of other loving dog owners do every day.

Choco then pulled out a plastic knife to cut the cake into slices. He cut off two slices – one for each dog. Then he cut himself a slice of cake. That’s when Choco and his two dogs, Shaggy and Nena, dove into the food and devoured the delicious birthday celebration dessert.

A stranger who was passing through the Colombia park began to record a video of Choco celebrating with his dogs. The passerby recorded Choco throwing the celebration but then noticed something horrible. Choco was crying. The passerby decided to approach Choco to see if he was all right. That’s when Choco told the passerby that he was homeless and struggling to get by from day to day.

Choco told the stranger that he had been living on the streets for several years. The reason that he was homeless was that he had fled an abusive situation at his former home. While he was living on the street, he came across two loving dogs, Shaggy and Nena. These dogs became his family and accompanied him every day from then on.

While Choco does not have a reliable place to call home, he does everything in his power to care for his beloved dogs. That’s why he was throwing them a birthday party. He wanted the dogs to feel special and cared for.

The stranger shared the video and asked people to help Choco if they could. More than 44,000 people saw the video and began donating to help. Choco received enough money to buy a smartphone and launched an Instagram account that now has hundreds of thousands of followers. He now uses his phone to sell shirts to help make ends meet.
