The Learjet 60 was traveling from Austin, Texas, to North Eleuthera in the Bahamas when it crashed near Cresthaven in Palm Beach County around 12:50 p.m. Sunday, November 1. An FAA statement cited in the report said nine people were aboard. In the aircraft’s final moments, the pilot described altitude swings of as much as 700 feet—a disturbing detail in a flight that ended in a residential area.

Learjet-qualified captain DeWitt Ingram, who reviewed flight-tracking data, said the aircraft fell from approximately 35,000 feet in roughly a minute. He suggested powerful thunderstorm currents could have damaged the jet and contributed to a loss of control, with acceleration during the descent potentially adding structural strain. That remains an expert’s assessment, not an established cause. The NTSB is leading the investigation alongside the FAA, and whether weather contributed to the fatal crash remains unresolved as investigators work to establish what happenedRead more below.
