Beloved soap opera set to be revived as TV movie franchise

All My Children is set to return, but this time as a series of movies!

According to People, A&E Networks confirmed Lifetime is working on a holiday themed movie set in Pine Valley, the fictional suburb of Philadelphia. Few details have been made available as the project is still in the development stage.

ABC canceled All My Children in 2011 after an incredible 41-year run. The series briefly reappeared in 2013 as a web series, and in 2020 the soap opera once again made plans for a reboot starring Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos. However, production was put on hold due to COVID-19.

Now, TVLine can confirm that two All My Children made for television movies are in production, and one of the films will be holiday-themed. At this time there are no dates set for production.

At this time it’s unclear if any of the original actors would reprise their roles, but if the past is a predictor of the future, it’s possible some cast members could return.

The 2020 spinoff series was set to be executive produced by Ripa and Consuelos, who met on the soap opera in 1995.

“There has been movement,” Susan Lucci, who starred in All My Children said of the ill-fated series titled Pine Valley in February 2022. “I wish it was a quicker movement, but yes, everything in terms of being in the right hands, as far as I know, would be in place.”

“It’s really interesting, and the concept is so good,” she said. “[It’s] in the right hands… so I’m really hoping that this is going to actually go forward.”
